If music was free...

April 24, 2005

Lately I've been thinking:
What would happen if it didn't cost you anything to listen to music? Would music stop being created?

Talk among yourselves; you have the topic......

If music was free...

Perhaps we would see a revival in Live music as a primary means of income generation?

If music was free...

I think that's an interesting question. How many bands are in it just for the money? I can't think that many are, as very few bands become huge commercial successes. There has to be a love of the art for them to struggle through the "starving artist" years. But, if we stopped paying for music, musicians would, definitely, have a difficult time making a living. Perhaps we would see fewer full time artists. However, I think making music is an intrinsic characteristic of the human race. So even if music became free, it would still be present in our world.
